Achieving proficiency in the art of active listening demands a distinctive combination of creativity, courage, perseverance, and a dedication to self-improvement. This multifaceted skill goes beyond merely hearing words; it involves fully engaging with the speaker, understanding their emotions, and responding thoughtfully. The process requires individuals to cultivate an environment of trust and openness, where genuine communication can flourish.

To truly master active listening, one must embrace a variety of qualities that contribute to effective interpersonal interactions. This includes not only the ability to interpret verbal cues but also to recognize non-verbal signals that convey deeper meanings. It takes a certain level of bravery to set aside one’s own thoughts and judgments, allowing for a more profound connection with the speaker. Resilience plays a crucial role as well, as it enables individuals to navigate challenging conversations and remain focused on the speaker's message.

Furthermore, a commitment to personal growth is essential in honing the skill of active listening. This journey involves continuous self-reflection and the willingness to learn from each interaction. By actively seeking feedback and being open to change, individuals can enhance their listening abilities, ultimately leading to more meaningful relationships and effective communication. The mastery of active listening is not merely a skill but a transformative practice that enriches both personal and professional interactions.

In my creative endeavor, I opted for a striking combination of red, yellow, and green to illustrate the theme of Hopeful Evolution. Each hue was deliberately chosen to evoke specific feelings and tell a compelling story. The vibrant red captures the essence of passion and vitality, while the cheerful yellow radiates a sense of optimism and happiness. Meanwhile, the lush green symbolizes the continuous journey of growth and the promise of renewal that comes with it.

I paint

I paint with either my hands or paint brush. Just ask questions if you do not know. I paint because growing up in America as a black female was not easy for me. Therefore, I painted how I felt about my life, my experiences, and my world. Some of my teachers while I was a student at NationHouse include Baba Agyei Akoto, Mama Nkechi Taifa, Mama Afia Nson Bonsu and Baba Michael Anthony - Brown artist. Why Work with Women and Girls?

Organizations such as Esther Productions, Inc and the African American Women's Resource Center allowed me to work with a diverse set of women and girls from different backgrounds and sexual orientation beliefs. My Charter School Experiences

In 1992, I did not attend a charter school. I have had a wide range opportunities that took place at various schools. I have not provided any services for schools as a consultant for a while. Among them include when I served as a substitute teacher for Mundo Verde PCS in 2013, I can recall working with some of the students and staff and sharing my passion and extensive background in visual arts. Additionally, I can recall when I served as a substitute teacher for DC International School. I knew a little bit of Spanish, but as a professional visual artist, I really enjoyed sharing my love and extensive background in visual arts with the students and some of the staff members at DC International from 2016-2017.
