I trust that you enjoyed a peaceful evening and had a restorative night's sleep. Today is Thursday, September 19, 2024, I wish you a day filled with safety and vibrant experiences that bring joy and inspiration.

My journey to Brightwood, Washington, DC, began during my college years. From 1995 - 1998, I conducted my visual arts workshops in numerous areas of the Brightwood community.

In my artistic endeavors, I chose to work with vibrant shades of yellow for my digital abstract painting, utilizing the paintapp software. This color selection was intentional, as yellow often symbolizes positivity and energy, which I aimed to convey through my artwork. The process of creating this piece allowed me to explore the interplay of light and form.

PAST VISUAL ARTS WORKSHOP held in the Brightwood Community

KUUMBA ARTS AND CRAFTS PROGRAM. D.C. Department of Recreation (Emery Recreation Center) from 1997 - 1998 and A - T Seban Mesut (1995- 1998). conducted a free fine arts workshop for children ages 7 — 10. Taught students ages 7 to 10 techniques of drawing, finger painting, sponge painting, abstract design, clay work, collage designing and monoprinting. Sponsored by Ms. Afrika Abney and funded by the D.C. Commission of the Arts, Arts Education Grant Program

Promoting cultural expression through literature and the arts

I am actively involved in offering my services, brand, and creating digital artwork. On August 27,2024 and August 29, 2024, I personally distributed flyers to promote an upcoming event organized by Esther Productions Inc., The Institute for African American Writing, and The Black Student Fund. This event is set to occur on September 14, 2024, at the Tenley Library, and it promises to be an enriching experience for all attendees. The event will take place from 2 PM to 4 PM, providing a fantastic opportunity for participants to delve into the realms of poetry and prose. It aims to celebrate the richness of African American literature and foster a deeper appreciation for the art of writing. Prior to embarking on the creation of my abstract digital paintings on canvas through the use of advanced software, I begin by providing a thorough explanation of the basic digital canvas. This foundational step is crucial as it sets the stage for the artistic process, allowing me to articulate the characteristics and functionalities of the digital medium. Understanding the digital canvas is essential for effectively manipulating the tools and features that will ultimately shape the artwork. Once I have established a clear understanding of the digital canvas, I proceed to the selection of colors and brushes. This phase is integral to my creative process, as the choice of colors can significantly influence the mood and emotional resonance of the painting. I carefully consider the palette, ensuring that it aligns with the vision I have for the piece. I perceive political involvement as fundamentally linked to the ideals of integrity and a dedication to the welfare of the community. It is imperative that honesty remains at the forefront of political endeavors, as it serves not only as a moral principle but also as a crucial element in building trust with the electorate. Without this trust, the very fabric of democratic engagement begins to fray, undermining the relationship between leaders and the people they represent.

Djimo Kouyate

Commissioned Photography for Baba Djimo Kouyate Smithsonian Folklife Festival, 1997, Washington, DC Photograph by Ms. Afrika Abney "Djimo Kouyaté (August 16, 1946 - August 1, 2004). Djimo Kouyate was from the Malinké tribe, a sub-group of the Mandingo people. Born in Tambacounda, Senegal, he was from a distinguished family of griots who trace their ancestry back to the thirteenth century. A master kora player and a fine singer and dancer, Djimo also played a variety of other instruments including balafon (wooden xylophone), drums, and other string instruments. He worked with the Senegalese National Ballet as a singer and dancer since 1960, and was a founding member of the National Instrumental Ensemble of Senegal."

I attended a DC Public School from 1991 - 1993 and graduated from the school when I was 16 which was in 1993. I attended Bell from 1991-1993. I graduated in 1993 and was 16 at that time. Years later, I donated the painting shown in the above photo. Additionally, I gave away the clothing articles and jewelry shown in the photo above. My focus is primarily on branding, the creation of digital art, and offering a range of services.
