Platform of Expression

Designed with the intention of fostering a deeper appreciation for abstract art, the Platform of Expression serves as a catalyst for conversation and exploration.

“As we reach the end of art appreciation month and the last day of August 2024, it is disheartening to see the continued lack of appreciation for abstract art. Despite its rich history and profound impact on the art world, abstract art often faces criticism and misunderstanding from those who fail to recognize its complexity and beauty. It is crucial that we take the time to delve into the world of abstract art, to understand its significance and appreciate the imagination and emotion that artists pour into their work.

Abstract art challenges traditional notions of representation and invites viewers to explore their own interpretations and emotions. It is a form of art that pushes boundaries and defies easy categorization, making it a valuable and dynamic contribution to the art world. By dismissing abstract art as mere randomness or chaos, we overlook the thoughtfulness and intentionality behind each brushstroke and composition. It is time to break free from conventional norms and open our minds to the endless possibilities of abstract art.

In a world that is increasingly driven by instant gratification and superficial aesthetics, abstract art stands as a beacon of creativity and individual expression. It dares to be different, to challenge perceptions, and to spark meaningful conversations about the nature of art and beauty. By relegating abstract art to the sidelines, we are missing out on valuable opportunities for growth and reflection. Let us take this last day of art appreciation month to recalibrate our understanding and embrace the richness of abstract art.

The lack of appreciation for abstract art reflects a larger cultural resistance to stepping outside of our comfort zones and embracing the unknown. Abstract art demands that we let go of preconceived notions and surrender to the experience of pure expression and emotion. It is a form of art that invites us to engage with our senses and emotions on a deeper level, transcending language and logic. As we bid farewell to art appreciation month and August 2024, let us make a commitment to nurture our appreciation for abstract art and all its complexities.

As we close the chapter on art appreciation month and the month of August 2024, let us not forget the importance of celebrating the diversity and richness of artistic expression. Abstract art may not conform to traditional standards of beauty, but it offers a unique and powerful lens through which we can view the world. By overlooking abstract art, we risk limiting our understanding of art and stifling our own creativity. Let us take this opportunity to expand our horizons, to embrace the unknown, and to cultivate a deeper appreciation for the wonders of abstract art.”

Why Work with Women and Girls?

" As women, we have been taught to always compete with each other and compare ourselves on the basis of the way we look and act. Working with each other closely kills that way of thinking, empowers us and helps us create together in an environment that we feel safe in." Therefore, working with women and girls not helps me to empower them to feel good about themselves, but to heal themselves from trauma and other experiences that they may encountered. Organizations such as Esther Productions, Inc and the African American Women's Resource Center allowed me to work with a diverse set of women and girls from different backgrounds and sexual orientation beliefs.  In 2004, I began to work with Esther Productions, Inc and from 2017 - 2018, I provided services for the African American Women's Resource Center.  Esther Productions, Inc. is dedicated to using a variety of vehicles—traditional and nontraditional—to develop communities throughout the United States and Europ...
