Creating art on canvas

“Creating art on a digital canvas opens up a world of possibilities for artists, allowing them to explore their creativity in ways that traditional mediums may not permit. The digital realm provides a unique platform where colors can be manipulated with precision, layers can be added or removed effortlessly, and mistakes can be corrected with a simple click. This flexibility encourages experimentation, enabling artists to push the boundaries of their imagination and produce stunning visuals that captivate viewers.

The process of painting on a digital canvas is not just about replicating traditional techniques; it also involves embracing the innovative tools and features that digital art software offers. Artists can utilize a variety of brushes, textures, and effects that can mimic real-life materials or create entirely new styles that are only possible in a digital format. This fusion of technology and artistry allows for a dynamic workflow, where ideas can evolve rapidly, and the final piece can be refined to perfection without the constraints often faced in physical mediums.

Furthermore, the accessibility of digital painting has transformed the art community, making it easier for aspiring artists to share their work and connect with others. Online platforms and social media have become vital spaces for showcasing digital art, fostering collaboration, and receiving feedback from a global audience. As a result, painting on a digital canvas not only enhances individual artistic expression but also cultivates a vibrant community.”

Working in Museums/Galleries

I had the opportunity to work in many museums and art galleries in the past. Some of them include: The New Harlem Gallery (1992-1993) and the Phillips Collection (2000). Some especially enjoy working with the public. They enjoy giving programs, explaining exhibits, and answering questions. ... Insightful Reflections

Insightful Reflections. Digital art created on canvas. September 10, 2024. Afrika Abney My reflections on politics often evoke a palette of somber hues. I perceive political involvement as fundamentally linked to the ideals of integrity and a dedication to the welfare of the community. It is imperative that honesty remains at the forefront of political endeavors, as it serves not only as a moral principle but also as a crucial element in building trust with the electorate. Without this trust, the very fabric of democratic engagement begins to fray, undermining the relationship between leaders and the people they represent.

Navy Reflections, digital art created on canvas

Prior to embarking on the creation of my abstract digital paintings on canvas through the use of advanced software, I begin by providing a thorough explanation of the basic digital canvas. This foundational step is crucial as it sets the stage for the artistic process, allowing me to articulate the characteristics and functionalities of the digital medium. Understanding the digital canvas is essential for effectively manipulating the tools and features that will ultimately shape the artwork. Once I have established a clear understanding of the digital canvas, I proceed to the selection of colors and brushes. This phase is integral to my creative process, as the choice of colors can significantly influence the mood and emotional resonance of the painting. I carefully consider the palette, ensuring that it aligns with the vision I have for the piece. Additionally, I select the appropriate brushes that will allow me to achieve the desired textures and effects, enhancing the overall depth...
