April is National Poetry Month

 

"In a proclamation issued on April 1, 1996, Former President Bill Clinton declared: "National Poetry Month offers us a welcome opportunity to celebrate not only the unsurpassed body of literature produced by our poets in the past, but also the vitality and diversity of voices reflected in the works of today's American poetry….Their creativity and wealth of language enrich our culture and inspire a new generation of Americans to learn the power of reading and writing at its best."In addition, similar official National Poetry Month proclamation have been issued by mayors from towns and cities across the country, including New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, Tucson, and Washington, D.C.."

Spectrum of Imagination

I would like to share insights regarding a selection of my artwork, which I developed using a painting application that was launched in November 1985. At that time, I was just nine years old and attending NationHouse, a private school with a focus on African-centered education. This early exposure to a creative environment played a significant role in shaping my artistic journey. It is important to note that my foray into the realm of digital art did not commence until several years after my initial experiences with traditional forms of creativity. Djimo Kouyate

Djimo Kouyate was from the Malinké tribe, a sub-group of the Mandingo people. Born in Tambacounda, Senegal, he was from a distinguished family of griots who trace their ancestry back to the thirteenth century. A master kora player and a fine singer and dancer, Djimo also played a variety of other instruments including balafon (wooden xylophone), drums, and other string instruments. He worked with the Senegalese National Ballet as a singer and dancer since 1960, and was a founding member of the National Instrumental Ensemble of Senegal."

Since 2016, I have not provided any dance performance services. Additionally, I have not engaged in providing complimentary services for an extended period. My involvement in educational services came to an end in 2018, and I have since moved away from that aspect of my work entirely. It is crucial for me to maintain a high level of respect and accuracy in my professional endeavors, particularly as I have dedicated considerable time to branding, creating digital art, and delivering my services. While my past experiences are no longer the primary focus of my career, it is essential to recognize the breadth of my background. My journey has been shaped by a variety of roles and responsibilities that have contributed to my overall diverse array of expertise.
