  During my teenage years from 1989 to 1996, I was immersed in a variety of experiences that shaped my formative years in Washington, DC. As a student, I engaged actively in the local arts scene, which provided me with numerous opportunities to express my creativity and connect with the community.     My Afrocentric journey began at the private Afrocentric institution known as NationHouse, where I attended from the age of two until I was fourteen. This school provided a unique cultural environment that emphasized the importance of African heritage and identity. While my formal education at NationHouse did not include visual arts, the experience was rich in lessons about the natural world and the vibrant spectrum of colors that exist within it.
