What was your favorite subject in high school?

I created this painting from ages 14 - 16 which was when I was a high school student. Years later, I donated the painting. The painting-- Sleepy Child was painted using acrylic paint on canvas board. Upon graduating from high school in 1993, I have not painted much portraits. When I was in high school from 1991 - 1993, my favorite subject in high school was art. I was introduced to Baba Melvin Deal when I was 5 years old and he had his first dance studio located in Ward 7. He taught me West African dance.                                                                            I created this several years ago.   Black History Month was introduced to me when I was a student attending NationHouse. Below are some of my quotes that I use as examples to exemplify Black History Month which takes place every February. Although, Black History Month occurs during the month of February. I am a black woman and acknowledge the contributions that my ancestors have made.  In fact, growing up, I have had the opportunity to meet many black men and women who made contributions. Capturing My Life

I have been through a lot thus far in my life. I have been courageous and brave enough to share my life experiences. I am sensible, cautious, careful, and practical. I am talented and have experienced betrayal, dishonesty and bullying throughout my life. These forms of behavior that I have encountered shaped me into a strong, gentle, creative and passionate person.  If you were to capture my life, you will probably see dark colors.
